The Wrexham Way
March 2025

The greatest love song we ever wrote. After a few too many drinks together during a match at the Cae Ras, the band decided we should write a paean to the love we can never leave no matter how many ups and downs we endure together. Wrexham ‘til we die. That this gets played at the stadium now fills our Lowlife hearts.

Smoulder
October 2023

Break-up songs are our speciality it seems. This one is about those feelings that never fully snuff out. They smoulder away, always ready to flame now matter how much the other person has poured cold water on the fire. Being a more recent song, it shows we don’t learn.
Taken
July 2022

Written about the horrors rather than the supposed thrill of ‘joyriding’ this song looks at when more than just a car is taken. 400 people die every year on UK roads. Shouldn’t that number be far less? We’re proud of how complex this song is given it was written by teenagers.
Gaslit
2022

Another more recent tune that describes the awful mental disintegration that comes from being repeatedly lied to over many years. Gaslighting seems to have found its way into the political playbook and we’re all having our heads messed with now. The tune is from a composition Si wrote for his A level music
Rise
2021

A soaring rejoinder to the worst days, when the weight of the life is pushing you down. Will wrote this after his dad had a breakdown and a stroke driven by Thatcher’s policies changing teaching for the worse. Original lyrics by Will were updated with Mike to reflect our positive challenge to ourselves in those situations. What will you now do?
Endured
2022

During lockdown as the great re-recording of our songs started to get out of hand, we decided to start writing new ones. This was the first and is about the sheer joy of experiencing live music again. That collective euphoria. It used an old tune that had to be worked out from grainy video footage from those days!
Fine
2021

A cut and shut job back in the day taking Mike’s first ever lyrics for the verse and stitching them together with a poignant chorus from Ceri. Laid over a track that builds and builds to chart the rebuilding of one’s self after a break-up, it was always the classic way to end a gig with a firework of emotion. Featuring the amazing Joe Solway on sax and some of Si’s most indulgent solos, it is always a blast to play live.
Hunted
2020

Sung from the point of view of a fox with a human hunter at its mercy, this is our haunting commentary on ‘country sports’. We’re not fans. Can you tell?
Joker
2020

A proper bit of fun for us. A country/blues ditty that compares being messed about in a relationship with gambling in a casino. All the instruments come out in this one. No, you’re square dancing along.
Lost
2020

Another Ceri/Mike lyrical collaboration. Updated from our younger days and our first of many songs about relationship troubles and struggling to face them. Boy, we went through some stuff and have never been lost for words about the experiences since.
Villain
2020
Another new one, this song compares the old adage that heroes die young or live long enough to become the villain to being in a relationship to a similar point. Tongue firmly in cheek, and cape flapping in the breeze.
